Wakeboard Bindings
Wakeboard bindings play an important role while wakeboarding. A perfect pair of wakeboard bindings can make a difference in the way you ride. They can be more comfortable than your old sneakers. Selecting out of a vast range of bindings can be a great challenge for the riders. They have to consider many aspects while choosing proper wakeboard bindings that suit the requirements. There are different types of wakeboard bindings available in the market like hyperlite wakeboard bindings, slingshot bindings, liquid force bindings, CWB bindings and company bindings. Wakeboard bindings are also known as Slalom Water sky bindings.
Before going to buy wakeboard bindings one should have the knowledge of the parts of the blinds so that you can choose appropriate bindings according to your requirements.
- Over lay: It provides maximum support by pulling the heel and toe together. Overlay creates secure attachment to the wakeboard. It should be molded with enough thickness to support it properly. The latest wakeboard bindings attach adjustable buckles or straps to the overlay
- Under lay: Under lays are made from the rubber but latest under lays are of EVA, a hybrid of rubber and foam. EVA is lighter than the rubber. It keeps contact with top of the foot and ankle’s tender area.
- Hardware: It is made from nylon or metal and holds the wakeboard binding and supports the sides of the foot.
- Base plate: It should be stiff and strong enough. The strength of a base plate depends on the quality of the aluminum used.
- Foot bed: This is a resting place of the foot and should be comfortable. It should have a good heal cup to hold the foot firmly.
- Entrance: The entrance of the bindings will be a little harder to get into. Buy a wakeboard binding that can be able to adjust with proper buckles and straps.
While wakeboarding, the big question that arises is which foot should put forward on the wakeboard bindings? Here are some tips to help you:
- Falling test: Close your eyes, stand keeping your feet close and ask somebody to push you gently from behind. Observe which feet go forward to balance your body. The foot that comes forward to keep your body balanced should be kept forward on the wakeboard. If the right foot is put forward it is called Goofy footed.
- Demo test: Another way to decide the foot that can be put forward on the wakeboard is the demo test. Try both feet and observe which foot feels natural. Either way while crossing the wake one can feel a bit less balanced on off side.
- Pants test: The foot that a person puts first in his pants can go forward in wakeboard bindings.
- Kick test: According to Winter Hawley, a site visitor keeps some thing like a life jacket in front of the rider and ask him to close his eyes and kick the object in front of him, the foot that comes first to kick the object should keep forward on the wake board.
